Sophia Medzoyan is a student at Barnard College of Columbia University, majoring in Gender Studies and Human Rights and concentrating in Asian Diasporas and Asian American Studies. Her independent research on the blockade of Artsakh as reproductive violence has been published in undergraduate peer-reviewed journal Righting Wrongs: A Journal of Human Rights. She loves to ponder questions of transnational organizing, community archives in diaspora, and the intertwined liberatory struggles of indigenous peoples across West Asia
Outside of academics, Sophia is a proud member of Armenian folk dance group NYC Paraxumb, where her yarkhushta and alashgerdi kochari skills put Armenian gender norms to shame.
