Noor is a New York-based literary magazine making sense of what’s been passed down. Noor exists within Armenian and Middle Eastern culture and reconstructs itself around it with contemporary art and literature.

We love work from a place uniquely yours, that restlessly reexamines culture and craft, that acknowledges its roots and pushes beyond their tail ends. At the moment, we’re particularly drawn to experimental forms, documentary photography, and art that mediates light and dark.

“Noor” means light in Arabic and pomegranate in Armenian. The work we look for embodies an illuminating power, revealing the hidden pith of the familiar. To better understand the kind of work our magazine publishes, feel free to read through our past issues available on our website.
